A software tool that helps remove blank pages.
Quite often, particularly when creating PDF documents from scanned images, many blank pages get created. When you are dealing with a large number of such documents being created, removing such blank pages could become a very tedious task. Some tool that can detect these blank pages and remove them would be of immense help. This is one such tool. It looks at the pixels on a page and if the total number of black pixels is less than a particular number, it can mark that page as a blank one; one that does not have much written on it. One can set this threshold after some experimenting. Once set, it will work for a large number of documents. This is a simple tool and is easy to work with. In addition, this tool lets you work a batch of documents at one time. That should save you a lot of time and effort.
It will create a report of deleted page(s) and create a back-up of these pages too. The tool goes through the process of scanning each page, counting black pixels on them, deciding if a page is blank, notifying the program of the page id and creating the report and back-up. The whole process is automatic. It is possible to define page margins. The implication is that these margins are ignored when processing a page. Thus artefacts like spiral binding holes, etc. are ignored when counting blank pages. These can give false results otherwise. The complete document need not be processed. There are several ways one could specify the pages to be processed. It works with Windows OS and is a good product.
